Being as it's already Wednesday, I've properly missed the boat for my 'What's On In London This Week' Monday post so to try to make up for this, here are a couple of events for tomorrow and Saturday:
Thursday April 16th - The Whitest Boy Alive @ Scala
Saturday April 18th - Record Store Day
This is the day you show your local record store some loving and if they are celebrating Record Store Day, they should be showing you some loving back. It's sort of like Valentines day for music.
As would be expected, Rough Trade and Pure Groove are taking part, here are the deets:
Rough Trade East
There will be exclusive records on sale on the day from the likes of beck, sonic youth, franz ferdinand and others, tons of live performances, free stuff and a Limited Edition – C09 Cassette Compilation.
Instore performances include:
BETTY & THE WEREWOLVES - 11.00am
MY SAD CAPTAINS - 12.00pm
WAVE MACHINES - 1.00pm
SUNNY DAY SETS FIRE - 2.00pm
LET'S WRESTLE - 3.00pm
DUTCH UNCLES - 4.00pm
EBONY BONES - 5.00pm
LOVERMAN - 6.00pm
PETE MOLINARI - 7.00pm
JOE GIDEON & THE SHARK - 8.00pm
Rough Trade Website
Don't forget the smaller but older Rough Trade West store, they're also hosting the following instore performances:
SAM (PLANET EARTH) - 1.00PM
NAT JOHNSON (MONKEY SWALLOWS UNIVERSE) - 2.00pm
IAN BROUDIE - 3.00pm
STAV SHEREZ (BOOK READING) - 3.30pm
ALESSI'S ARK - 4.00pm
There's loads more information about the day on the Rough Trade website.
Pure Groove Records
Pure Groove are joining in on the music store celebrations as well with instore performances from:
Graham Coxon
Patrick Wolf
Dan Michaelson And The Coastguards (lead singer from Absentee's fine new project!)
Keep an eye on their website for announcements on the times of these performances and remember Pure Groove is a pretty small store so I'd recommend getting there very early if you want to get in! They sell drinks and cake so don't worry if you're MEGA early.
