(In case any concerts have changed dates/ changed venues/ been cancelled or I've made a typo, you'd be wise to check out the venue websites before heading out the door because.)

If I was holding an imaginary competition and the prize was tickets to three of this weeks shows, the question would be:

Which singer once described Kelly and Mckee of The Vaselines as his "favorite songwriters in the whole world"?

Simples.

The three shows I would choose would be:

Animal Collective
The Vaselines
Beth Orton

If you think you know the answer (without looking it up on the Internet) leave a comment and if you're correct you'll get.. well nothing because it's an imaginary competition but lets not focus on that, details, details!

I'm pretty sure that it's Kurt Cobain. I know he was a fan anyway. Nirvana covered at least one Vaselines song. I just can't believe they're playing at the Forum! That'll never sell out.

Also, Beth Orton at the Slaughtered Lamb! That's an intimite gig for her. Would be great I'm sure. Oddly enough, I was listening to Trailer Park last week for the first time in years. Still sounds good.

Correct! It was Kurt Cobain. Nirvana covered 'Molly's Lips' and 'Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam', both Vaselines songs. Well done!

I know what you mean about Beth Orton at the Slaughtered Lamb, that was my reaction as well. When she first started out, I saw her play at the old garage in Islington supported by Travis. She does still sound good. I remember she was always described as the musician's musician.
