No Woman No Cry

(Photo on Flickr by Scumfrog)

Well I'm in 2009, hope you got here OK as well. Yesterday I enjoyed a stroll around the market and some music shops in the centre of Toulouse. I like checking out the different music on sale, seeing which bands have made it over from the UK and are selling on the continent, finding independent record stores etc.

In the market I noticed a stand selling the cutest gold, green and red striped rastafari tank tops for children and it suddenly dawned on me that me that since my brother is going to be becoming a father for the first time in a few months I now have a reason to buy cool clothes for little people. Yey! (Poor kid!)

Anyway, on the theme of Rastafari, I was a little sad to read on the BBC website that Vincent Ford, the guy who is credited with composing the Bob Marley reggae classic No Woman, No Cry has just died in Jamaica. He was 68.

I've always held a soft spot for a lot of those Marley classics and I feel doubly sad when a family looses a loved one at the turn of a year which for a lot of people is a time of celebration.

The following video is a live performance of a song called Natural Mystic by Bob Marley, a song that I've always found incredibly moving.
