On a recent stroll around the internet, I bumped into these guys, The Superimposers and their long awaited third album release Harpsichord Treacle. The Superimposers are Dan Warden and Miles Copeland, a London based duo (not American as I originally thought). If you haven't heard The Superimposers before, I'd describe them as The Beach Boys meets The Beatles meets Air meets something in 1950's America-there are a lot of other hints and flavours in their songs but I can't quite put my finger on them yet. If any of those artists just mentioned interest you at all, this is an album worth a listen.

"Leonard Cohen has announced that he will tour through the US, Canada and Europe this summer. It will be his first major jaunt since 1993.
Specific dates and venues are yet to be confirmed, but full details are expected next month."

I was only yesterday looking around on the Leonard Cohen website wondering what he was up to these days and bam! Hope he picks some good venues that will suit his style.

Saturday is glaring at me and then I sadly realise I won't be able to be there-sure there will be a few more festivals like this during the year. I saw Kraftwerk on their last tour through the UK at the Brixton Academy a couple of years ago and they were amazing. But Portishead on the same day- that's sure to be a cracker! And then my next new favourites, Hot Chip.I love this song and the delivery.
Tickets for their Spring tour are on sale from 23rd for 48 hours exclusively on the Portishead website and then on general sale on January 25th - My guess is these tickets are all gonna be gone pretty fast so you'll need to be ready to click click.
So have anyone seen this Todd Haynes film about the life of Bob Dylan?
I went to see it a little while ago when it first came out and well, really enjoyed it. It got an 81 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes which I think probably is a fair score, maybe I'd have given it more of a 90 per cent but then I am a Dylan fan.
I had read Dylan's biography just a couple of months before seeing the film which if I hadn't I think I'd have been lost from the beginning. I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't already seen this flick but I would say if you've just given up cigarettes as a new years resolution, this film might tempt you to start again.
The line up of actors, let me see, Cate Blanchett (I didn't recognise her in the film at all) Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, they all do a great job. I particularly liked Cate Blanchett, she put a lot into this film and deserved her award of Best Supporting Role at the Golden Globes - and guess what, she wasn't there.
So if you like some smooth cinematography, this is possibly your bag, it never tires, a constant flow of quality in the directing throughout the whole 135 mins and at the end, it just felt like Todd Haynes didn't want to stop. The music sounds fresh and well it's just a great film. I'm looking forward to setting up an LCD Beamer in the living room (when I've found one I can afford) and sitting back and watching it all over again.

I am both a Flat Eric (Mr Oizo) and Daft Punk fan. I just listened to Daft Punks "Too Long xxx Steam Machine" from their Alive 2007 album and picked up on some of Mr Oizo's "Flat Beat" at the beginning of the track and then what seems to me to be some Bronski Beat's "Small Town boy". Am I imagining these underlying tunes?
I'll post both "Flat Beat" and "Small Town Boy" for you to decide.

I really really really can't stand this song-it was at number one in the UK for 15 weeks back in 1994. I think I just heard it way too many times -sorry guys, but you made my list.

Lets kick this off with an all time classic. I'm not sure what this is supposed to be about but to me Lionel seems very sleezy in this video and it makes me feel uncomfortable. He just keeps following her, poor girl!
