The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum

The people of Burma of struggling more than we could ever imagine. I almost always to turn to music when I feel helpless and sad about a situation. A song that sums up a little of how I feel about what is currently happening is by Fun Boy Three and called 'The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum'. Originally written about Margaret Thatchers UK government, it sadly also seems applicable to so many other governments, this time, The Burmese (obviously the two situations are not directly comparable).

Please Burma, please give your people food, water and aid, you are killing your own. This is senseless.

The lyrics which I find particularly meaningful:

"I've seen the faces of starvation
But i just can not see the point
'Cos there's so much food here today

That no one wants to take away

The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum

The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my right to choose
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my point of view
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my dignity,
Take these things away from me
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my family,
Take away the right to speak

The lunatics have taken over the asylum take away my point of view,
Take away my right to choose
"
